moonlight sonata AT manchester CATHEDRAL
Saturday 12th December
17:00 – Concert begins
Brahms – Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel
Liszt – Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12
Beethoven – Piano Sonata No. 14 in C# minor, ‘Moonlight’
Coming to the end of Beethoven’s 250th anniversary year celebrations, pianist Daniel Grimwood presents a programme highlighted by Beethoven’s beloved sonata that has become perhaps one of the most well known pieces written for the piano. Supporting this is one of Liszt’s devilishly fiendish Hungarian Rhapdsodies and Brahms’ inventive reimagining of a theme from Handel’s Harpsichord Suite No. 1.
